Why the new ramps and bridge are needed

Direct and easy access to the Hume Motorway is essential for the development of North Wilton and the wider Wilton area, including Bingara Gorge and the future Wilton Town Centre.

The Hume connects Wilton to Sydney, Campbelltown, Canberra and Wollongong—key places people need to go for work, study, and to visit friends and family.

As more people move into North Wilton, Bingara Gorge and Wilton Greens over the coming years, the number of vehicles travelling will also increase, particularly during peak times.

The current road infrastructure can't adequately meet these growing needs. New entry/exit ramps will ensure Wilton has an efficient, reliable road network well into the future.

Key benefits

The new ramps and bridge will:

  • Ease traffic and congestion on Fairway Drive, Pembroke Parade, Picton Road, and the Picton Road-Hume Motorway interchange. This will additionally benefit Bingara Gorge residents as vehicles travelling to North Wilton from the Hume Motorway will no longer need to travel through Bingara Gorge
  • Improve travel time for local drivers as well as people driving into the area
  • Improve safety and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists using the Niloc Bridge.
